Cockroach Problems in the Inland Empire

Cockroach Problems in the Inland Empire

There is nothing ickier than seeing a cockroach skitter across your wall. Knowing that cockroaches are crawling around your home can be quite unsettling and even stressful. If you have a cockroach problem, getting rid of them as fast as you can will stop it before there is a population explosion. Cockroaches multiply quickly. A German Cockroach will lay eggs every six weeks. Which can be just under 50 eggs at a time. With cockroaches quickly reaching maturity, you could have a serious cockroach infestation in a very short period of time. While there are ways to kill cockroaches yourself, calling in a professional pest control service in the Inland Empire is the fastest and most thorough way to get these creepy crawlies out of your home for good.

What an infestation looks like

Cockroaches come into your home looking for food, shelter, and water. They love to feast on discarded fruit peels, meat that is left on the counter, old, rotting vegetables, and even dead bugs. They are definitely not picky eaters and love to climb through garbage and other disgusting places to find food. Seeing one cockroach isn’t a good sign but it doesn’t exactly mean you have an infestation, though you may in only a few weeks. Signs that you have a serious cockroach problem are:

  • Droppings: If you are finding coffee ground-like droppings in particular corners or cabinets, there is a good chance you already have a cockroach infestation
  • Smear marks: Cockroaches are attracted to water. Running through damp pipes, toilets, or puddles gets their dirty little bodies wet. When they scurry up to walls, they often leave behind muddy, brown streaks.
  • Egg castings: Cockroaches lay a lot of eggs. You may not find the eggs in your home but you may find the casting left behind after they hatch. If you find one or more of these egg castings, you know many freshly hatched cockroaches are not living in your walls.
  • Cockroaches: While one cockroach sighting doesn’t mean you have a serious infestation, seeing cockroaches a few times a day certainly indicates you have too many scurrying around, eating, and breeding in your home.

Risks

Cockroaches are nasty creatures that don’t think twice about diving into the most disgusting places imaginable. When they do, they pick up bacteria and diseases that they can then transfer to you if they are able to get into your food. You may not even realize a cockroach came to nibble on your sandwich when your were away for a moment, but it was long enough to infect your food with diseases like:

  • Listeria
  • Salmonella
  • Guardia
  • Dysentery
  • Cholera
